Where the results come from

Every number on this site starts with a lottery operator. We do not hold the draws. We read what is published, from more than one place, and say clearly which source each page relies on.

The confirmation rule

A result is normally published only when two readings from different places agree number for number. The exception is the operator's own official results, which can be published alone because there is nothing more authoritative to wait for.

If two readings differ, publication is held back. The draw page says the result is being checked and shows no number that could be wrong. A disagreement is never averaged, guessed or settled by taking whichever source arrived first.

Until a second source confirms it, the result carries the "being checked" mark. The mark is not decoration: it means one source has read the whole draw, but nobody has checked it yet.

See the corrections log

A result with one reliable source that no other contradicts for a full day is treated as settled.

The sources

SourceRoleUsually available
South African results publishers (lottery.co.za and za.national-lottery.com)Two independent sites that publish every National Lottery draw, with the payout per division once it is announced. Each is read separately, so one can confirm the other. They are not run by the National Lottery.Main sourceA few minutes after each draw
The 49's results archive (za.lottonumbers.com)Every Lunchtime draw since December 1996 and every Teatime draw since November 1997. 49's Ltd's own results service holds only October 2018 onwards and has gaps in 2020 and 2021; this archive fills them, and where both hold a draw they are checked against each other.Main sourceFor past years
The operators' official results (49s.co.uk and nationallottery.co.za)The UK 49's results are read directly from 49's Ltd's official results service. The National Lottery's own site, nationallottery.co.za, is the reference any claim is settled against. This site does not replace either.OfficialWhen the operator updates them
Reports from readersA reader can tell us about a mistake. No report changes a number on its own: it is first compared with the operator's official results.Cross-checkWhen they arrive
The Lotto49s corrections logEvery change to a published result is recorded with the date and the reason, and it is the check on every other source.Cross-checkWhenever a result changes

Live broadcasts

While a draw is broadcast, the system reads it and shows each number as it appears. A number read this way is still a single reading, and a second source must agree before the "being checked" mark goes.

If a game is not drawn on a day, for example over a holiday, that draw is marked "no draw" instead of staying empty for ever.

We read our sources politely: few requests, with a clear identity and a contact address.

None of this makes this site official. Only the operator of each game publishes the official result. Before you claim a prize, compare your ticket with the operator's official channels.
